The Direct Mount Derailleur Hanger, Shimano, is a 3D printed, titanium derailleur hanger that is stronger than aluminium models, and thus less likely to flex under force from an electronic derailleur, leading to faster, more precise shifting.
It furthermore eliminates the use of a direct mount link from the assembly, resulting in a 4-10g weight saving, while still offering 8-12x the stiffness of a conventional hanger. It is therefore better able to stand up to knocks during your ride, so there will be less need to realign the hanger or adjust the derailleur. Should the hanger need adjusting, this can be done by hand.
The hanger is also made to be sacrificial, with a built-in internal fracture notch that encourages it to break and bend below the point of damage for your carbon frame, so that if you suffer a hard impact, you’ll end up replacing your hanger rather than that frame.
